I couldn’t be more pumped to talk about the TC8-Marksman. This ready-to-run 1:8 scale trail crawler has quickly earned a top spot in my RC lineup, and here’s why I’m loving it.
First, the TC8-Marksman rides on Redcat’s solid TC8 1:8 platform. With XR247 axles, a realistic scale body, and top-notch electronics, it’s a looker and a beast on the trail.
The RCR-2CENR 2.4GHz radio system, HobbyWing QuicRun WP Crawler 80A ESC, and Holmes Hobbies 13T Crawlmaster 550 brushed motor all work together to give precise, smooth control. Navigating tricky trails feels natural, and the low-end throttle makes technical crawling a joy.
This crawler is built tough. The single-speed transmission with heavy-duty gears, MOD1 gears in the divorced transfer case, and XR247 trussed axles mean it can handle some serious abuse. Add in the adjustable slipper clutch and powerful 550 motor, and it has the strength and speed to tackle stubborn obstacles with confidence.
The chassis is smartly designed. Ladder-type frame rails and an adjustable wheelbase give stability and flexibility. The 3-link front suspension, 4-link rear suspension, and 100mm long-travel aluminum shocks deliver smooth handling over rough terrain.
Scale details are where the TC8-Marksman really shines. LED-ready headlights, off-road light buckets, rock sliders, a spare tire mount, and even a non-functional winch make it look authentic. I love the scrape-away paint system that reveals a rusty metal look underneath — it gives your crawler personality and shows off your trail time.
Steering is sharp thanks to the Hexfly high-torque 25kg digital servo, paired with INTERCO SS-M16 hybrid tires on Raceline Avenger wheels. It handles a variety of surfaces like a champ, and the scale driver figure with a cowboy hat adds a bit of character to the rig.
